Several communities in the northern half of the island Sunday [Nov 6th] were submerged under water during a two-hour downpour. An upper level trough which had been affecting Saint Lucia as of Friday [Nov 4th] triggered the torrential rain. In a press statement, Infrastructure Minister Stephenson King notes that destruction from the weather occurrence is estimated to be worth millions. And Prime Minister Pierre called for citizens to dispose of waste properly, citing that climate change is real and disasters of this nature may be more frequent. This week MBC Prime took to the streets for the public’s response on the “unusal” weather patterns in recent weeks.
