WEATHER OR NOT

Published

Weather Officials are closely monitoring two systems east of the region, but Saint Lucia’s Director of Meteorological Services says they are no cause for alarm…just yet. Saint Lucia and the northern Windward Islands braced last week for the passage of tropical storm Kirk whose centre passed between the island and Martinique late Thursday. Kirk brought with it sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour, resulting in damage, mainly to the agricultural sector. However, the region so far has not experienced as many severe weather systems as 2017, despite expert predictions of a very active hurricane season. Prime’s Senior Correspondent Miguel Fevrier spoke to Director of Met Services Venantius Descartes via telephone Thursday morning.
