ST. LUCIA DISASPORA REACT TO NEW QUARANTINE FEES

MBC Prime has reaction from the Saint Lucian diaspora who say they’re not pleased with the new government imposed charges for mandatory quarantining. For the first seven days upon arrival, returning nationals will be confined to a state-run quarantine facility. St. Lucians can expect to pay a daily fee upwards of US $96. The government’s decision to introduce the quarantine fees this month comes against the backdrop of the economic fallout due to the coronavirus pandemic. Opposition Leader Philip J Pierre is advising the Chastanet Administration to make better use of a recently acquired USD $20 million dollar loan from the IMF which he says can further subsidize the pricey quarantine charges.SHOW LESS
