SICK OF BEING SICK

Things have not been resolved at the Inland Revenue Department. Last week, a significant number of employees there did not report to work in what was an apparent sick-out. The issues stem from some weekend cleaning work undertaken on both the first and third floors of the Heraldine Rock Building which resulted in reports of health issues ranging from nausea and vomiting to skin rashes. But as Senior Political Correspondent Miguel Fevrier reports, the CSA’s General Secretary says the staff’s patience is wearing thin.

US EASE SANCTIONS ON SAINT LUCIA POLICE FORCE

The United States Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean on June 18 announced the State Department has agreed to modify the Leahy Law sanctions currently imposed on the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force. Now, select police units will regain access to US funded assistance eight years after the sanctions were handed down as a consequence of alleged extrajudicial killings by police officers during the infamous Operation Restore Confidence anti-crime initiative back in 2010/11.
