“Respect the laws of the country” is the word of admonishment to Prime Minister Allen Chastanet from local attorney Martinus Francois. The nation learned through a press release on Thursday October 25th that Francois has (quote) “drawn first blood in the ongoing case against the Prime Minister for his failure to nominate a person to serve as Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly following Sarah Flood’s 12th July 2016 resignation. The matter, subject of a constitutional motion filed by the attorney saw its first hearing whereby High Court Justice Godfrey P. Smith ordered the earliest convenient trial date of February 13th 2019. A number of issues will be heard on that date, some of which Francois disclosed to Senior Political Correspondent Miguel Fevrier during a phone interview Monday.

A Darling Road woman was placed at a government quarantine facility for allegedly breaching the terms of her home quarantine. The woman denies the allegation, telling Prime she was falsely accused. And as we learn in this Miguel Fevrier report, none of the associated government departments have accepted responsibility for the detention.
