The Public Relations Officer of the Tafari Housing Association has called on political intervention as demolition works begun on the CDC apartment buildings in La Clery. Residents woke to the sound of bulldozers, Monday demolishing the structures to make way for another major housing project. An estimated 17 CDC apartments in La Clery which is already vacated by most tenants are due to be demolished within the next three weeks. Cecile Actille reports.

US EASE SANCTIONS ON SAINT LUCIA POLICE FORCE

The United States Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean on June 18 announced the State Department has agreed to modify the Leahy Law sanctions currently imposed on the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force. Now, select police units will regain access to US funded assistance eight years after the sanctions were handed down as a consequence of alleged extrajudicial killings by police officers during the infamous Operation Restore Confidence anti-crime initiative back in 2010/11.
