Former Police Commissioner Cuthbert Philips has added his voice of approval to the move by the Police Welfare Association to ditch the Trade Union Federation. Cuthbert Philips says it was once the policy of police officers that they bargain on their own. But that was over three decades ago. Philips who was the Commissioner during that time stated there was no work comparable to that of a police officer. Members of the Police Welfare Association (PWA) voted Monday to reject a government offer of a $1, 500 lump sum, negotiate separately for salaries and eventually part ways with the TUF. The negotiations are for the period 2016 – 2019. Senior News Correspondent Cecile Actille reports.
