PM PIERRE SHEDS LIGHT ON SHADY DEALS SURROUNDING INCOMPLETE ST JUDE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

The Labour Party Administration’s preliminary findings into government expenditure on the St Jude Hospital reconstruction have seemingly uncovered a trail of financial irregularities according to Prime Minister Philip J Pierre. The previous Chastanet led Administration’s decision to abandon the initial construction site to build a completely new hospital cost taxpayers more than EC $115 million dollars for work done between 2019 and 2021. As previously reported, the Labour Party Administration has mounted a special committee to track down St Jude Hospital expenditure and advise Cabinet on the most suitable options to finish a multimillion dollar, 12 year old construction project.

UWP CHAIRMAN PINKLEY FRANCIS STEPS DOWN

The main Opposition’s ranks appear to be waning in the aftermath of the July 26 general election. Pinkley Francis served as United Workers Party chairman in the run-up to the 2021 polls. He confirmed his departure from the UWP with MBC Prime on October 7. The surprise announcement comes weeks after ex-Castries Mayor Peterson Francis, appointed under the former Chastanet led Administration, penned the former chairman requesting he along with other UWP executives remove themselves from a proposed review of the Party’s failed reelection bid. Despite his resignation from the chairmanship, Pinkley Francis says there is, “…no love lost…” between him and the UWP.
