During his rebuttal on the Estimates debate, the Prime Minister divulged the financial details of a XCD $70 million dollar scheme by the previous United Workers Party Administration to expedite the overdue opening of the St. Jude Hospital. According to Prime Minister Philip J Pierre, the arrangement was drawn up days before the July 26 elections and only needed a signature to proceed. The Prime Minister credited an unnamed civil servant for taking the controversial arrangement to the Attorney General’s office for review where it stalled.
