Pedestrian 14, escapes with minor injuries after being struck by vehicle

A fourteen year old was taken to hospital after she was hit by a car.
The teen is recovering in hospital following the incident on Mongiraud, Gros Islet Highway on Tuesday, January 17th, shortly after 7am
The incident occurred when a car hit the woman and in the process, the driver of the vehicle was forced to halt.
Emergency responders at the Gros Islet fire Station responded to the scene at approximately 7;18 and transported the patient to the OKEU Hospital.
Traffic Police investigators were also summoned to the scene. The driver of the Daihatsu Terrios was also interviewed by officers.
According to information obtained by MBC Prime, the pedestrian had moments prior to the incident made a dash between heavy traffic traversing the busy highway to the bus stand after leaving the a nearby junction.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
