The Catholic Church has been thrust into the spotlight after parishioners were filmed assaulting a man inside the Vieux-Fort Catholic Church on February 13. The assault victim, MBC Prime understands, made it a habit of defecating on the Church’s compound. Our news desk has also learned the man has a history of mental health issues. Psychiatrist Dr. Julius Gilliard says the incident serves as yet another reminder of the island’s deficient mental health support services.
