The Prime Minister’s Monday night address didn’t sit well with the Saint Lucia Labour Party Opposition. Before taking the floor in the Lower House on Tuesday morning, Opposition Leader Philip J Pierre backed up by his Deputy Ernest Hilaire were of the view the Prime Minister’s latest address fell short of responding to the needs of the public. The Opposition also reiterated appeals to the Chastanet Administration for greater transparency with COVID-19 related spending.

Security Minister Senator Hermangild Francis’ claims that he was allegedly prevented from becoming Police Commissioner have been refuted by the one person he accuses of standing in his way. In a May 11 statement, former Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony dismissed Sen. Francis’s version of events as “…false…” Dr. Anthony also says the disgruntled government Minister owes a debt of gratitude to the Labour Party for his ascent in the Police Force during his career.
