LABOUR MIN ‘IN DIALOGUE’ ON PRIVATE SECTOR FIRINGS OF WORKERS REFUSING COVID VAX

Labour Minister Virginia Albert-Poyotte says the Philip J Pierre Administration is “committed” to protecting workers rights. An escalating number of employees who refuse to comply with workplace vaccine mandates are at risk of losing their jobs. One local company recently fired dozens for “failing to comply” with a new health and safety policy that requires all employees to show proof of vaccination. Some of the axed workers are also discovering termination of employment benefits is not legislated and is paid out at the discretion of the employer. The Labour Minister says stakeholder discussions with local trade unions and employers are advancing to hash out an amicable resolve.
