Grande Ravine Banana Farmers still awaiting NFTO payments

Local farmers continue to call on the Chastanet Government to remit what is owed to them for their produce. Government recently assumed the chairmanship of the cash-strapped NFTO, but they say that the status quo has remained despite the change in leadership. Senior Correspondent Miguel Fevrier was in the community of Grande Ravine, Dennery, spoke with two farmers there, and filed this report.

US EASE SANCTIONS ON SAINT LUCIA POLICE FORCE

The United States Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean on June 18 announced the State Department has agreed to modify the Leahy Law sanctions currently imposed on the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force. Now, select police units will regain access to US funded assistance eight years after the sanctions were handed down as a consequence of alleged extrajudicial killings by police officers during the infamous Operation Restore Confidence anti-crime initiative back in 2010/11.
