FOREIGN AFFAIRS MIN HEADS UN SPONSORED FIREARMS TRAINING SESSION

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime is arming Saint Lucia’s primary security agencies with the wherewithal to arrest illegal firearms trafficking. Out of Saint Lucia’s 64 recorded homicides to date, guns were the weapon of choice in more than half the killings. Foreign Affairs Minister Alva Baptiste expects the three day hands-on training session which concludes on December 3 rd will expand local capacity and make it harder for arms traffickers to smuggle guns into the island.
