CHASTANET ACCUSES PIERRE ADMIN OF WASTING MONEY PURSUING MISFEASANCE CASE

Did the former Prime Minister use his influence to stall the now resurrected misfeasance case brought against him? The government’s case against Allen Chastanet and Kenneth Cazaubon centers on more than $38,000 the Attorney General alleges was state funds unlawfully used to pay for a private political event when Mr. Chastanet contested the Soufriere seat for the UWP in the 2011 General Election. The government’s misfeasance case went cold after Mr. Chastanet became Prime Minister in 2016. The reason: the former Prime Minister told reporters he told former Attorney General Stephen Julien, “…we are not spending any more money on this case…”
