“The decision was always to close down Victoria.” This was Prime Minister Allen Chastanet at Monday’s pre-cabinet media conference, who entertained questions from reporters regarding the future of the island’s main and oldest healthcare institution. Healthcare on Saint Lucia has been at the forefront of many a mind here, amid the debate over the completion of the Saint Jude Hospital and the purported privatization of the OKEU. Prime Minister Chastanet disclosed that there are many options available, and one of them is integrating VH into the facility which now houses the Mental Wellness Centre.
