The St. Kitts and Nevis government plans to dish out up to XCD $35 million in bonuses to its public servants and in Grenada government employees there have been promised an “appreciation payout”. And in time for the holiday shopping season, the Barbados government offered a VAT free shopping day to its citizens. Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Ernest Hilaire is pointing to multimillion dollar borrowing during the former UWP Administration further compounded by the economic downturn caused by the COVID pandemic for restricting the government’s ability to offer end of year incentives.
