VISITOR ARRIVALS EXCEED EXPECTATIONS DESPITE COVID CHALLENGES

Tourism officials are touting the latest arrivals numbers for the first three months of the year. According to the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, the island welcomed more than 32,000 visitors during the month of March alone. The better than expected tourism performance has landed Saint Lucia on the United Nation’s top five best performing destinations.

According to ex-Tourism Minister Sen. Dominic Fedee the full credit should go to the previous United Workers Party Administration for the development of the Community Tourism Bill which was introduced for debate in the House of Assembly on March 8. Sen. Fedee however, took a swipe at his successor – Tourism Minister Dr. Ernest Hilaire for renaming the policy which was formally referred to as the Village Tourism project.
