Life-threatening winds and storm surge can affect Saint Lucia when it moves over the Windward Islands early Monday morning into the evening. Hurricane Beryl is forecast to produce between 3 and 6 inches of rainfall over Saint Lucia.

Please take all precautions to ensure your safety and protect your property. Go over your emergency plans with your household.

Know your shelters. Know the vulnerable areas in your community. Know the vulnerable residents in your neighbourhood, like the elderly, sick and shut-in, and differently-abled individuals. If they live alone, get their contact information and establish who will care for them before the storm affects us.

Secure important documents in waterproof containers. Have enough drinking water, essential medication and canned foods to last each household member for at least three days. Have a first-aid kit ready. Stock up on batteries for flashlights and portable radios and ensure mobile devices and portable charges are fully charged.

Follow official sources for important weather updates and national bulletins. A National Shutdown will take effect today at 8:30 PM. All non-essential civilians must remain indoors until the all-clear is given.

Be prepared and stay safe, Saint Lucia.
